Post 7B:research into your genre

The genre my group and I have chosen is 'Action'. As a result of this I have decided to research further into this genre so I have a better understanding of the genre and the conventions of it.

The Genre 'Action' is where you have a protagonist (the hero) is faced with many challenges which usually result into saving someone's life or saving a city etc from the antagonist (the villain). The standard conventions of an action film usually consists of fight scenes, chase scenes, danger, deaths and usually end in the protagonist coming out as the victor. In most cases the protagonist tends to be struggling and looks as if he/she will be defeated but against all odds they manage to pull through with huge physical efforts and violence and come out on top.

The famous James Bond film dominated the action films in the 60's, as a result of these films it has led to modern-day action movies following in these conventions. Each Bond film has new villains and the same hero (although played by many different actors) who has the task of defeating the villain before its too late. The Bond films also utilise quick cutting, car chases, fist fights, a variety of weapons and gadgets.
