Evaluation:Question 2

How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary task?

In the production of my film, I feel that combination of my main product and my ancillary tasks were effect. I linked all three, my film, poster and magazine review by using similar images which I used for my poster within my magazine. They followed similar conventions which an action film would do. In each ancillary task I have linked into one another so that it seems to flow of what I have said in the previous post. As a result of this I felt that it would help me to with the marketing and distributing side of the film as it looked as if it had been branded. Branding can be defined as the process in which a person creates a unique name and image for their product of which can instantly be recognised by a consumer within the market, this means it will attract customers due to the name being well known.
Here are a few example of branding companies which are well known across the world:

For my ancillary tasks, I have made a film poster and a double page spread of a review in a magazine for my film.
Ancillary Tasks These are my two final ancillary tasks, a film poster and a double page spread of a film review in a magazine. Whilst making my ancillary tasks I focused on making them fit a brand of which I was trying to create for my film. To do this, I took photos of Josh’s character whilst in the production process to make sure that the images that I used on my poster and magazine review tied in with the film. For example, the image used on my magazine page was taken whilst filming the scene when Josh is in a meeting with the policeman. This ties in with the codes and conventions of a magazine review as they often use an image taken from the film.

Evaluation: Question 1

In what ways does your media product use develop or challenge forms and conventions of real products?

To the right is the final poster we created:

We decided that in order to achieve higher marks for the poster, we cut the blank areas which were originally on the sides of the poster as there was no need for these gaps. Also The title and the log line have been lowered in order to fill the middle section of the poster. This we felt would hook the audience into the poster making them want to watch the film.
The first attempt is shown on the and the final poster is shown on the right with the changes made.
